Dell s latest poweredge r230 servers are perfect for this.
Quiet 1u server fans.
Of course this all makes sense small fans stupid high rpm loud.
They re short depth and the fans run at extremely low speeds when it isn t under load so is as quiet as a desktop pc most of the time.
An intake version of this model is available sold separately.
When srever starts fan noise is normal but when i plug in pcie intell p3500 nvme ssd fans ramp up and is very loud.
I m not sure where the idea came from that you should be able to buy a quiet 1u server.
I ordered a used server.
If you hear this a lot does it not say that maybe the r210 s make more noise than equivalent 1u servers from other vendors.
Unfortunately i severely even this is still an understate underestimated the loudness of 1u fans lol.
You can easily stick 32gb of ram and a couple 3 5 7 2k nearline sas drives into it and it wouldn t be too terribly expensive.
How to reduce fan speed.
Errrr how about the dell r200 s which were clever enough to not run their fans several thousand rpm higher than they need to.
The fans are set to exhaust out heated air and should be positioned near the top of the rack.
All frimware and bios are upgraded to the most recent ones.
Dell servers in general are optimized for high performance and not to be quiet.
Even if you do not need the server s full power all the time the fans run way too fast in my opinion.
Hello i am prepairing new dell t430 server with two cpu utins.
